RESOLUTION IN LOVING MEMORY OF
CLARENCE PRESTON BROWN

From the Class of 1963 Pocahontas High School
Powhatan, Virginia

Mrs. Brown and Family; it is with the most humble hearts that we bow to the will of Almighty God, who in His wise providence has worked this according to His own good pleasure. His wisdom--beyond comprehension, His love,--unlimited, and His ways-- above our understanding. We mourn your loss.

Whereas, Clarence Preston Brown was a member of the Class of 1963. He served as Vice President of this distinquished class with our motto “Either We Will Find A Way Or Make One.”

Whereas, Clarence Preston Brown was an excellent athlete and excelled in all sports. His love for competition was just a part of “the game.” He also participated in many other extra curricular activities.

Whereas, Clarence Preston Brown’s race is won, his noble work is done.

Be it resolved that the Class of 1963 expresses its deepest sympathy to Mrs. Brown, Children and Loved Ones and pray their strength in the Lord.

Be it further resolved that we will cherish the love he possessed and shared with all that he met and embraced.

Be it finally resolved that God forever bind our hearts to thine.

“May peace with thee abide and God forever guide our hearts.”

Respectfully submitted,

The Class of l963 Pocahontas High School

Gayle and Ashelle

There is nothing we can do,
to make him come back
There are no words we can say,
that can replace the words you long to hear

There are no answer's we can give,
that will satisfy your questions
There is not another soul we can introduce you to that will ever replace his
And, there is no love we can offer that will ever replace the love you shared

We can not promise your broken heart will ever be complete

We will not deny it was a tragedy
We will not lie and tell you he will come back

He never really left

We do promise he hears you when you speak
We will say he loves you no matter the distance
We will not deny he is in a better place
And, we will not lie; he is waiting to greet you someday

He is every step you take
He is in everything you do
He is the air you breathe
He is every beat of your heart

" He is like the wind. You can not see him...but you will always feel him"

God saw him getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around him,
and whispered, "Come to me".
He didn't deserve what he went through,
So He gave him rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best
And while he is sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
We could not wish him back
To suffer that again.

Rest in Peace Preston

January 14, 2010

To the Brown Family,

Preston is remembered as a kind person, like his Mom, who was one of my Mother's best friends, and Earl, who was a classmate throughout school in Powhatan.

It is difficult losing someone you love. We are never ready to let go... but it is remarkable when you can look back and see the tremendous impact your loved one had on so many people. His legacy of good deeds and kindness left behind, along with many wonderful memories, can help heal the heart. Now Preston will be with other loved ones who passed before him, but his true spirit lives on and shines through all whose lives he touched.

Please know that you and your families are in my thoughts and prayers during your time of mourning. May you find peace in your cherished memories and comfort in knowing that others care.

The the Family of Clarence Preston Brown

Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
