Daniel Ivey Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Jun. 19 to Jun. 20, 2010.
IVEY, Daniel M. Jr. Sunset and evening star And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For though from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar. Danny, 53, of Chesterfield, crossed the bar on June 17, 2010, after a year-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Beth; daughters, Dale, Danielle and Maya; son-in-law, Donnie Field; grandchildren Haley and Tyler Field; parents, Marshall and Joyce Ivey; brothers, Donnie and David Ivey and their families. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 24, 2010, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Appomattox Boat Harbor Clubhouse, www.appomattoxboat harbor.com. In keeping with Danny's wishes, no service will be held. Danny's care by the good Dr. May, and the compassionate many at Virginia Cancer Institute, Thomas Johns Cancer Hospital, Virginia Urology, and Hospice of Virginia eased his journey. We thank you with all our hearts.

Dale, I Was at a high school reunion this week end and heard the news about your Dad. My husband Danny played ball with your Dad around the time you were born. (Flag Football, Softball, Bowling and Boating) We were good friends and did many things with him and your Mom. Our paths went in different directions so we lost touch. He was a great friend and so much fun to be around. Hope you have learned to cope thru the last year.
