Ranny and Clay,

As this book closes, we hope your good memories of Staples can triumph. Your caring for Cleiland demonstrates some of the love you must have spent on Staples and both Staples and Cleiland were lucky to have had your support through their difficult times. The Donnan and Mullen families do appreciate all of your care for your immediate and extended families. Thank you for everything.

Ranny and Clay,

We are so sorry that you have lost Staples. We remember having Easter dinner with him two years ago when we were in Richmond to see Cleiland and you. We pray for you during this tough time.

This has been hard for me, even 3000 miles away. Though I hadn't seen Staples for over 10 years, the time we spent as kids growing up were the best times of my life. Playing tag in the backyard driving Clay up the walls :) Going to the farm with Randolph and Staples for the weekend. Singing songs we wrote over and over. I have never had a friend like that since that time in my life, where Staples was the best friend I could have asked for. The world lost a caring, artistic, wonderful soul.....But those who know him will remember how they were touched by such an amazing person.

Randy & family,

I was in stunned silence when I saw this in the paper this morning. I am so very sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of your boys, especially typing school papers for them. I still have the drawing Staples did for me one year at Christmas. Please know that you are in my thoughts & prayers.

I am very sorry for your loss; though I never met him, my son, Chris spoke of him often, as he was my son's roommate at Honeytree.
sincerely, Mary G. Cary
