Kathleen M. Slapp Herring "Kathi"

Born September 13, 1952, in Suffern, NY to Joseph Slapp and Micki (Slapp) Novak. Kathi is predeceased by her loving husband Frank Herring (2006) and her daughter Kristie (2016). She is survived by her brother, Richard (Jenn) McGrady, Son Jimmy (Dawn) Herring, Melissa (Ozzie) Rivera, Catherine (Geno) Herring, Adrienne (Stuart) Archibald, and son Frank P. Herring. As well as her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Kathi grew up in Grassy Point, NY amongst her extended family. Spending so much of her youth playing on the shore of the Hudson River with her Dubois and Slapp cousins. After losing her father as a teenager, the family relocated to what became the family homestead on Hudson Avenue in Haverstraw. After attending North Rockland High School and Rockland BOCES graduating in 1970, she went on to become a licensed beautician. Working in several salons, including her running her own business for a short time, she left the salon world to stay at home and raised her young children. She later then returned to the work force as a food service employee with the Minisink Valley Central School district.

In 1974 Kathi married her husband Frank, and soon after they started their journey of building a big blended family. The family grew and grew as they would spend so many days fishing and crabbing while enjoying beautiful summer days together. Kathi also loved her crafts especially knitting. She was known to make knitted slippers for just about everyone she knew.

Above all else, Kathi most loved spending time with her family. In her final days, she was celebrated at her birthday party, surrounded by her family and friends and ushered into the afterlife with her loving children at her side. We know that Frank was there waiting to greet her as they are for sure now dancing in the stars.

Family and friends are invited to the at the George M. Holt Funeral Home in Haverstraw New York where our family has entrusted our love ones since 1969.
Visitation : Tuesday September 23, 2025 from 3:00 PM -7:00 PM
Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, September 24, 2025 will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Peter & St. Mary's Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY 10927 Interment to follow at the Frederick Loescher Memorial Cemetery 220 Brick Church Road, New Hempstead, NY 10977
