Edith Schmidt

SCHMIDT, Edith Elliott, age 90, of Burkeville, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy Wheeler Schmidt Sr.; and a daughter, Linda S. Dunning of Midlothian. She is survived by two children, Leroy Wheeler Schmidt Jr. of Suffolk, and Shirley B. Marshall of Midlothian; five grandchildren, W. Peyton Bonner Jr., Sheri S. Sanchez, Beth B. Angelus, Meredith D. Kowalczyk and Allison G. Dunning; six great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Julianna and Andrew Sanchez, Jacob and Caroline Angelus and Emma Bonner; a sister, Dorothy E. "Dot" Long of Crewe; and a number of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Edith was fun, smart and a real joy to be around. She was a strong, proud and loving person. She loved her Lord, her church and her home. Her family was her life. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, at Burkeville Baptist Church, Burkeville. Interment to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Burkeville. The family will receive friends at Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Burkeville Baptist Church Building Fund.
