HAWKINS, John E., departed this life April 17, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Conner Hawkins; and two brothers, David L. and Louis William Hawkins Jr. He is survived by his sister, Mary Hawkins; grandchildren James Edwin IV, J'yonchia and Jayda' Mayfield; and other relatives and friends; among them two devoted caretakers, Patricia Meade and Rachel Sanborn; devoted friends, Patricia Sadler, Freddie Robinson Jr. and Richard Westley. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Cemetery, with Pastor Kent Evans officiating. Family and friends please assemble at the cemetery at 1:15 p.m. Friday. Online condolences can be made at www.jenkinsjr.com.
