Dear Karen, Michael, Becky, and Family,
We are very sad to learn of Dick's death. He and Lillian were our good friends for a long time, and like many we benefited from their substantial contributions to the musical life of Virginia State and Petersburg, notably the Petersburg Symphony.
We are out of town and won't be able to attend the services tomorrow, but we'll certainly be thinking of you.

Karen, Becky and Steve,
For many years, I came to your home for piano lessons with your beloved mother. Always nearby in the kitchen encouraging me, in his "sing song" voice, was your dad, Dr. Edwards. I have such wonderful memories of them both. May you be comforted by knowing that he has left an indelible print on all who came into contact with him. May his life and legacy continue to do the singing.

Dear Karen and Family,
Dick was not only a good Rotary friend but a YMCA buddy as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my times with him and regretted greatly the day he moved away from Petersburg. Dick was an extremely bright and engaging fellow that I and many others have missed for a long time. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dear Karen and Family,
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. Yesterday the choir sang Roland Carter's arrangement of In Bright Mansions Above. I would like to dedicate this song to the memory of the musician Dr. John Edwards, for I believe ALL those excellent musicians, those gifted by God to play an instrument or to sing a song, will gather for a mighty concert in bright mansions above.
