Duane Eide Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home on Nov. 26, 2025.
Duane Larry Eide, 69, of rural Dodgeville, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, of a sudden illness. Duane was born in Decorah, Iowa, on November 2, 1954, the youngest son of Obert and Emma (Knudsvig) Eide.
Duane attended Decorah Community Schools and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's Degree in 1977. He married Debra (née Fox) Leach on June 30, 1984, in Bloomington, Illinois.
Duane worked with IBM in Bloomington, Illinois, and Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He continued to the State of Wisconsin where he had an impactful career in Information Technology, most recently as ETF Infrastructure Team Lead, until his retirement in 2017. Duane's co-workers called him "The Rock" and relied on his leadership, problem solving skills, dependability, and good nature.
Duane loved his home with Deb in the woods and enjoyed wildlife, especially when feeding the birds and seeking to improve his methods to thwart squirrels. He enjoyed his ham radio hobby and was eager to self-teach home improvement skills as evidence of his "can-do" approach to life. He delighted in his wife's art projects and supported her work in many ways, showing them off with a special eye twinkle. His smile and chuckle often accompanied his sharing of new projects and discoveries, reflecting his joy and wonder of life. Duane was a truly kind and loving man with an easy sense of humor and generously warm hugs. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Duane is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debra, and his daughter Addie (Adam) Humphries of Titusville, FL, son Spencer (Sara) of Portland, OR, and grandchildren Ruegg and Willa, also of Portland. Also surviving are brother Kenneth of Sequim, Washington, sisters Doris of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Karen (Michael) Donahey of Marshalltown, Iowa, and eight nieces and nephews. His beloved pets, Violet and Twinkle, will miss his devotion and tender care.
Duane was preceded in death by his father and mother and brothers Gordon and LaVerne Eide.
Duane's life is being privately celebrated by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.houckfuneralhomes.com.
