Martha Reekes

REEKES, Martha Edmonds, 69, of Blackstone, Va., passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2009. She was the widow of Stanley G. "Doc" Reekes Sr. She is survived by two sons, Stanley G. Reekes Jr. and his wife, Tamra, and Brian Keith "Tater" Reekes and his wife, Kim; four grandchildren, Andrea, Katie, Willie and Cameron Reekes; a great-grandson, Daniel Thomas Shell, all of Blackstone; four sisters, Vergie Brooks, Irene Mayton, Shirley Grady (Jimmy) and Edith Thompson; and a brother, Bernard Edmonds (Gertrude). The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Rd. (Business Highway 460), near Blackstone. The chapel funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
