Ricky KLINE Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Oct. 4, 2010.
KLINE, Ricky Lewis, "RK," 56, of Highland Springs, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010, after an up and down eight-year battle with cancer. Ricky was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Wolfe Kline; his father, Lewis "Lukie" Kline; his grandfather, Leo "Marblehead" Barnett; and his beloved and loyal K-9s, Megan Denise Wolfe Kline and Darrell Waltrip Wolfe Kline. He is survived by his mother, Marie Kline; his heart's "Sunshine" and caregiver, Paulette Klein; brother, Michael Kline and his wife, Joy; nephew, Jeff; niece, Jill; his stepson, Patrick Wright and his wife, Cathy; and stepgrandson, Taylor Kelly. Ricky lived each and every day by his code of life, "Loyalty," "Respect," "Honor," and "Dependability" as taught by his parents, and along with his motto of "work hard, play hard, and live life to the fullest." For years, RK enjoyed organizing and participating in charity fundraising events for Children's Hospital of Richmond, Special Olympics of Richmond, Richmond SPCA and individuals who had come upon hard times. RK was a member of the Sandston Moose Family Center for 33 years where he enjoyed many social functions and serving the local community. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. Moose Service on Monday, October 4, 2010 at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Children's Hospital of Richmond, Special Olympics of Richmond, Richmond SPCA or Hospice of Virginia. And, remember, "Life is better when you smile"

Mrs. Kline, Michael and family, I am saddened to learn of Ricky's passing. Losing my sister Gail to cancer six years ago, I know the pain you now feel. Knowing Ricky, I'm sure he fought the good fight. I remember Ricky, Michael, myself and others playing basketball in the alley behind your home. Ricky, Michael and myself organized a Muscular Dystrophy Association Neighborhood Carnival around 1962-63, so I guess the "civic minded"bug bit Ricky early. My thoughts and prayers are with you, God Bless.

Mrs. Kline, Mike, Family & Friends,
You have my sincere and deepest sympathy in Ricky's passing. Try to find comfort in knowing that his suffering is now over and he has gone to a better place. Ricky has a lot of good friends and he will be missed by so many. He would always make it a point to come to the dining room to speak to me when he would drop by the Lodge. We would keep in touch through emails and he would bring me up to date on his situation. I will miss him very much. If there is anything I can do, please let me know.

Well what all can you say about "Klink"? I love him for his love of life and strength to live the life he loved! Paulette, you know we are here for you with Ricky's love behind us. I know that he loved you very much because he told us so in California! I'll miss the one person who knew Glenys.
