I'm saddened to learn about the passing of Tom Goodbody. My prayers go to all of his family. I am a close friend of Lynn's, and I remember staying with Tom and Liz in Richmond. We enjoyed a wonderful night out on the town with them. I know he will be missed by all who knew him.
January 18, 2012
I met Tom quite late in our lives - at Jim's and his 50th high school reunion and I know why Jim never forgot him. I will miss his emails about all the Good Guys and how we can keep up the fight.
My sympathies to all of you.

To the Goodbody family: I did not know the Colonel or any of you. I am just an ol' Viet Nam Vet who reads the obituaries every morning to see if my name is listed there. I have to tell you Dee, that your write-up is a classic. I can tell that all of you loved the Colonel very much and will miss him greatly. May GOD richly Bless all of you during this time as you deal with your loss.

To the Goodbody family,
My dad, Louie Franklin, forwarded the very sad news about your dad. We were neighbors in Lincoln, Nebraska so many years ago. Thank you for posting about your dad's amazing life. Even though we have been separated by time and distance, please know that another family is praying for the comfort only the Lord can provide as you walk this path of grief. Patsy Franklin Emens

Dear Liz
I saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Your daughter, Dee, appears to have inherited Tom's gift of writing. That was a wonderful eulogy for her father in the obituaries section of the U-T San Diego...full of love, pride, humor, and wit. I also found myself smiling.
From another SDSU alum to Tom: Go Aztecs!
To you and your family, my thoughts and prayers...
With love to you and your family,

My sympathy and prayers to all the family.
I met Tom in 1964, a few weeks before my wedding. He was the best man, and that day he also became my brother-in-law. Lucky me!

I'm sad to hear of Tom's passing. My sincerest sympathy to his family.
Tom "took me under his wing" and taught me baseball when he lived on Sheridan Ave and I lived on Lyndon Rd. in Mission Hills. During WWII he would visit his grandmother in Coronado in the summer time and we would play baseball in the park when we weren't making prank calls on the telephone.

Tommy and I are missing you. It's hard to not be able to pick up the phone and talk with you. Tommy is having a real hard time; as he lost his Pops and his best friend. I guess I need to brush up on all my sports. Stats have never been my thing. You'll need to send me hints from above. Thank you for showing me so much love and accepting Katie and I into your loving family.

Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Thomas Goodbody. My late husband, R. Bruce Brown, friend to Tom from grade school through the formation the Mission Hills Irregulars, praised Tom very highly as a schoolmate and long-term friend and pep band member.

I am with you all in spirit at your time of loss. He was beloved by all. Tom will be remembered by me for his "twisted" humor and corney jokes. I got to witness over the past year and a half the connection, the love, between a father and daughter. I love you Lynn and family and you are in my thoughts daily.

I was so sad to hear of Tom's passing but grateful to have had so many years working with him and enjoying his humor and friendship. He could take just about any crazy situation and turn it into laughter and good cheer. We miss you, Tom!

Tom was the "East Coast Representative of the Mission Hills Irregulars, We will honor Tom at our January 18 fifth year luncheon celebration in Carlsbad. Most of the group went from grammar school through high school and some even to San Diego State. He played a clarinet in the Pep band. We enjoyed our collective phone calls to Tom at our quarterly meetings. My wife and I last visited in June 2010.
Our prayers go to Liz and their families for strength in these trying times. We see you at the Fort Rosecrans services. Best wishes, Tom Hemphill, Oceanside, CA

Dear Liz & Family,
So sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was a true friend. I met Tom while I was working for the state. He was a true professional at his job and was always helpful. I will miss most of all his jokes! He always could brighten up your day with one of his jokes! May the Lord be with you and your family during this most difficult time.

Dear Liz and Family,
It is amazing that after 60 years of graduating from San Diego High School in 1951, Tom and I could still share a good laugh on the telephone or through
an email. He was sooo much fun...and will be greatly missed. Special thoughts and prayers go out to each of you.

Tom (aka Tomas) and I worked together for about 7 years....Lincoln AFB, NE and SAC Hdqs. Bellevue, NE. We were walking distance neighbors in Bellevue. Carol (aka Nolia) and I had many good times with Tom and Liz and watched the young kids grow. I was so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Tom was my supervisor for 16 years while I served as Contracting Officer for DIT. It seemed like almost every morning when he came to work he would call me into his office to tell me his latest joke. It wasn't even the joke so much as the way he told them. He was a gifted joke teller and great boss (as most of the time he left me alone) and I could always count on him for support. He was also a prolific writer and he could tell you where to go so eloquently you would enjoy the trip. The world was a better place with him in it. I will miss him a lot. My sincere condolences to Liz and family.

I am so blessed to have known Uncle Tom all of these years. He was a terrific man- kind, gentle and caring. Tom had a great sense of humor and I will always remember how easily he could make me laugh. He will be deeply missed. My prayers and thoughts go out to my Aunt Liz, and to my cousins, Lynn, Tommy, Bonnie, Beth and Dee.

Just a note to let you know how much Tom meant to me during my employment with Procurement and Contracting for the Commonwealth of Virgina. His understanding of the needs of his employees was outsanding. His obituary puts it correctly...he was a saint among those who worked for him. My sincerest condolences.

I never met Tom in person but only on AztecTalk and then via phone. From the second I "met" him years ago, I felt like I'd known him forever, and I have special understanding for his passion for all things Aztec--I'm just as freakin' crazy as he was. I will miss him so, so much. My thoughts are with you in this terrible loss.

Throughout Tom's career as Director of IT Procurements at DIT, I strove to convince him of the benefits of the "Sole Source" procurement. That I never succeeded was made clear when he introduced me to Dee as "...the guy who never has to compete." While we often had differences, I never doubted that if the facts were presented, the decisions from Tom and his staff would be fair. There was never any question as to the integrity of the processes under Tom's direction. DIT and the Commonwealth lost a dedicated public servant when Tom retired to the golf course. I hope he enjoyed those years on the golf course and offer my condolences and best wishes to his family.
