WALTER DANIEL

DANIEL, Walter Gray "Googie," 93, of Hopewell, Virginia, quietly passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010. Mr. Daniel was born in Hopewell, Va., to Jack and Anna Daniel. His first job was a kilnsman at the Hopewell Pottery. He moved to East Liverpool, Ohio and worked for Homer Laughton Potteries. During World War II, he joined the Army Air Corps and served in Europe as a fire fighter for the planes that landed. After WW II, he returned to East Liverpool, Ohio and lived there until 1952. He worked for B & G Olsen in sheet metal construction and retired in 1983. He then started a consulting company business, "Walter and Kay," working with several insulating companies in the area. He quit working in 1999 and enjoyed his retirement with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Catherine Costello Daniel; his parents; brother, Jackie Daniel; sisters, Wilma Franck and Elva Gegenheimer; and infant grandson, Jason Phillip Daniel. He is survived by family members, Phillip and Joy Daniel of Chattanooga, Tenn., Ruth Ann and Doug Buck of Johnson City, Tenn., Bernadette and Henry Fischer of Lock Port, N.Y., Patricia and C.J. Copeland of Texarkana, Texas and Christopher Daniel of Chester, Va. There are 10 grandchildren, Katie Fisher, Annie Powell, Christopher Buck, Meghan Ornelas, Janine Fischer, David Fischer, William Fischer, Shane Copeland, Theresa Gamad and Kara Daniel. Also nine great-grandchildren, Madalin Powell, Sosie Buck, Piper Buck, Lily Ornelas, Grace Ornelas, David Ornelas, Tyler Forti, Jasmine Gamad and Tala Copeland; and two cousins, Pat Finlay of Tampa, Fla. and Laura Belle Leatherwood of Claremont, Va. There will be no visitation, and private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
