William Griffith Obituary

GRIFFITH, Dr. William H., of Bon Air, died December 2, 2009 at home. He was 79 years old and had battled Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Bill grew up in Newark, Ohio and had remained in touch with his friends from elementary and high school. His memorial service will be Saturday, December 19, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. Bill and Jane made the decision to give his body to the Anatomy Gifts Registry for Medical and Science research. Memorials can be given to the Capital Campaign of St. Michael's or the Coalition for IPF.

Dear Jane. I was very saddened to recently hear about Bill's passing. I have fond memories of meeting you and Bill on the Isle of Skye in 2001 when we were staying at Janet Donaldson's B&B. I was so pleased that Bill wanted to stay in touch and I used to look forward to his humorous and interesting emails.
It was indeed a privilege to have met you both.

Dear Jane, I just heard of Bill's passing. You have my deepest sympathy. I knew Bill back when I was in high school in Newark, Ohio. Since then my sister, Betty Redd, told me of meeting with Bill at a Newark High School reunion and how impressed she was with him and his compassion with her. They were dance partners in a grade school program. They had a lot of laughs about that. I know he will be greatly missed. Joan C. (Newark, Ohio)

Dear Jane, I have not lost my wife but I have just lost my mother about a year ago. I understand the sense of loss that seems so overwhelming. I shall pray for you as you go through the period of adjustment. The period of adjustment lasted 5 years for me when my Dad died. Now I know God will be with you as you struggle with your illness and the loss you have just endured. When we lose a person as close as a husband or wife, our best friend, it is only God who can assuage the bereavement and help us focus on the cherished memory of the loved and lost. As Christians we can look forward to a grand reunion with our Lord. God bless and know you will be lifted to the throne of grace each day for the next year. Stay In His Grip, Jim Roquemore.

I met Bill in the worst time of my life.. He helped me through a hard divorce..the death of my parents...He brought back the gift of love from God..and restored my strength.. I am truly grateful for the times that he helped me...
