Christian R. Sheehan, 23, of Champaign died early Saturday morning March 26, 2016, the victim of a devastating fire that occurred at his home. He was born in Urbana on March 24, 1993.   He is the son of Robert and Joy Sheehan of Champaign.  In addition to his parents, Christian is survived by his sisters, Olivia, Cidnee and Grace; maternal grandparents, Orval and Joyce Cluver of Cissna Park; and the family dog, Marley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Taylor Robert Sheehan; paternal grandparents, Vincent and Marge Sheehan; and great uncle, Glen Hofbauer.? Christian grew up in a loving family in Champaign attending Champaign Centennial High School.  He enjoyed basketball, soccer and was a lifeguard at Sholem Pool.? Christian excelled at Parkland College where he was elected to the position of student trustee on the Parkland Board of Trustees. There he represented the interests of the students to the college board and administrators.  In this capacity, he traveled to Washington representing the college, and to Springfield where he advocated for support of higher education.  He was chosen to introduce the President of Parkland College at the Commencement exercises.  While at Parkland, Christian demonstrated outstanding leadership skills as a senator in student government where he worked organizing students in a number of charity causes. ?  Christian was planning on continuing his education at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he was going to study communications and political science. He hoped to become a voice for those who needed to be heard.  With his experience, commitment and personal charm, he was destined to be successful in both his education and career.? Visitation will be Thursday, March 31 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West in Savoy. Funeral services will be held at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall in Cissna Park on Friday, April 1 at 11:00 am. Burial will be next to his brother, Taylor at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park.  A Celebration of Life service will take place at the Twin City Bible Church, 806 W. Michigan, Urbana on the evening of Friday, April 1 at 6:00 pm.      ?
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkland College Foundation for the Christian R. Sheehan Scholarship Fund for those students in need.?
He was a selfless young man with a great sense of humor. Christian had a kind, loving manner and was a good friend to all.?

Please accept my heartfelt prayers. Christian was a student of mine when he first began taking classes at Parkland. To see him grow into becoming such a good man and then to lose him is quite devastating as you well know. God bless and comfort you.
