Floody, Hope this finds you to let you know that it has been two years now and you are still being thought of.

September 3, 2010

John-
A thousand times we needed you
A thousand times we cried
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died
A heart of gold stopped beating
two twinkling eyes closed to rest
God broke our hearts to prove he only took the best
never a day goes by that you’re not in my heart and my soul.
Rest in peace My Love.

September 2, 2010

Miss you and love you Dad. There's not a day that goes by where I don't think about you. I know that your watching over me and I thank you for that. Keep me safe. I love you forever and always. Rest in peace Floody.

John, I can't believe it's going to be two years in a couple of days! There is not a day that goes by that your name isn't mentioned, or you're not thought about in some way! I will never forget what happened that tragic evening!! I hope you know I was right there with you, but I don't like to think of you that way! I remember your laugh, sunglasses, and tube socks. We still think you are going to walk through that gate into the backyard at my parent's house on a Sunday afternoon. This experience has changed a lot of us forever!! I know you are just fine wherever you are!! I like to think of you as a Guardian Angel for some of us. You're probably laughing pretty good right now, because you know we all could use some looking after. I miss you Johnny Flood, and I'm so glad you were part of my family. Love, Tina(Sister!!)

Remember The Good Times and Smile

We received the news that you had passed away.
Can hardly believe its been a year to the day.
Now it is so hard to know just what words to say

Your flame stopped burning, and part of us died.
Realizing you would not be around made us sigh.

Your thoughtful words we would never hear.
Missing the laughter you brought now only draws tears.

You were beloved by all that knew you well.
Living without you will just be hell.

Your spirit will always remain alive.
In all the memories we have, and all that jive.

So give us time to get back on our feet.
Because today our hearts all skipped a beat.

Even though you are in Heaven above.
We know you can still feel our love.

We are very blessed to had known you at all.
For GOD has purpose to make his final call.

Goodbye for Now we will say.
For no one was prepared to send you on your way.

We Love and Miss you Floody

Mr and Mrs Flood and Susan,
I don't know if you'll remember me,but, for 5 days earlier this month our lives and grief were deeply intertwined.I am Stella Racicot, sister to Margaret Sheloski Harvey, who was in the SICU at AMC the same time as John. Margaret also passed on 9/4/08,a short time after she was removed from life support and you had already left. She was layed to rest on 9/9/08, the same as John. I have thought of you all often since then and wondered how you were doing. I regret not exchanging addresses with you.I will always remember your kindness and the emotional bond we shared as a result of the biggest losses of our lives!Again,I send much love and my deepest sympathies for your loss.

To the entire Flood Family,

Just a quick note to let you know that I have put your family in my nightly prayers. The lord works in funny ways and when he took my brother Christopher... (who by the way loved working for the Flood family and loved Poppy) I couldnt understand why take the life of someone so young and full of love for everyone else. From how it seems on reading all of these wonderful messages John was the same way. Keep happy memories in the front of your minds and smile always. You will be amazed how it helps!!

To the Flood Family,
My thoughts go back 27 years when I spent a few great years working with John, hanging out listening to good music, enjoying good times and wondering where life would take us. I had not seen John in over 15 years until a friends wedding in Lake George a few years back. We talked as if we had seen each other all the time. He will be missed and as time goes on never forgotten. He will live in all our hearts forever. When a friend passes you never forget....they are always there... May god bless your family...

Bill (Billser) Westfall

September 9, 2008

The Floods and the Westfalls have been friends for a long time - long before I became friends with Johnny. When I heard what had happened to Johnny, I had a huge knot in my stomach. I've been wanting to say something to Mr. and Mrs. Flood since this tragedy began and couldn't find the time or the words to do so without breaking down with emotion... Bob and Rose, you are two of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to know. I can see where Johnny got his good-hearted ways. I'm sure you're proud to be his parents, as I'm proud to have been his friend. I'll cherish my friendship with the whole Flood family always.

Sue, it was obvious to me how much John loved you. I want you to know that you are especially in my thoughts. Please know that as John's old friend, I am always here for you.

I was sorry to hear of Johnny's passing. Though I have not seen Johnny in many years my memory of him has not diminished. Through my family I have kept up with friends from the old neighborhood. He did like motorcycles like most of us kids and when we were young he would come by and take turns with me and others riding a dirt bike I had in the woods behind our house. He was a great person and he will be missed.

Cathy Nasser

September 9, 2008

To The Flood Family,
My name is Cathy Nasser and I am close friends of Ric Storch and Andrea Gruber. I look after their townhouse when they are away. I was told by Ric of the great loss your family is experiencing. I told Ric, since he was in California right now, that I would stop in as his representative to offer condolences. I work 7-7 each day so by the time I arrived it was 7:35pm. I was astounded. There were police directing traffic. There was not one parking place in sight. The line was out the door and around the building..and I knew it started at 4pm according to the papers. When I asked aproximately how long the line would be, I was told around 2.5 to 3 hours. WHAT A TESTAMENT TO YOUR SON AND TO YOUR FAMILY. I have never seen this in my life. I called Ric in California and told him I wish he could see this for himself...because he would not believe it. To touch so many hearts...and so many lives in such a short time on this earth is astounding. May God Bless you and your family in this unbearable time, but rest assured YOUR SON MADE A DIFFERENCE...OBVIOUSLY. I only hope that when I go, people will say of me "she made a difference in our lives" God Bless...

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Johnny and I became friends when we worked as busboys together at Wolferts Roost CC back in 1984. We remained friends from then on. Although some time would pass between seeing each other, when we did it we would pick up like no time passed at all.

The last time I saw John was earlier this summer I was working on wolf rd when he rode by on his new bike. As expected with John he turned around and stopped to say hi and catch up. Johnny had a way of showing that he had a genuine interest in how others were doing. He talked about how his business was going and his family.

When he would speak of his family, especially his father, he spoke with great pride and admiration.

He was a good hearted class act from a classy family. He will be missed by many people.

It has been a few years since I have seen you and John, but I still hold our friendship in my heart. I will never forget when he first met you, how much he truly loved you and just feel head over heels for you, you were "one of a kind" to him. I can't even imagine the pain and loss you and your/his family are feeling right now, and words can't comfort you, but please know that he is truly loved by a lot of people and will be missed greatly. Love, Jodi

Dear Bobby & Rose and family,

There are no words that will help take the pain away that you are feeling right now and only time will help heal your heart, this I can tell you from experience as I and my mom and brother are still coping with the sudden loss of my dad a year ago and only the love of your friends and family and lots of hugs will help you deal with this tragic loss and then all of the wonderful memories that Johnny and your family and friends created together will help ease the loss and you will find your self thinking about something funny johnny did and you will smile and remember all the wonderful things that made your son the special person that he is
Our love and prayers are with you as well as a ton of Hugs
