Albert Kearney Obituary

Kearney, Albert A. MECHANICVILLE Albert A. Kearney, 70, of Hudson Avenue, died suddenly at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Born in Troy, December 16, 1944, he was the son of the late Albert I. and Rose Shimko Kearney. Affectionately known as Al, he was a 1964 graduate of Mechanicville High School. He was a local car mechanic for a number of years before joining G.E. Silicone Products Division in Waterford, where he worked for almost 30 years, retiring as a chemical operator in the manufacturing division. A kindhearted man, Al always enjoyed and welcomed friends and family into his home where he would almost always insist they stay for a drink and a bite to eat. He enjoyed camping, especially in the Adirondacks, but his true passion in life was cars. He always appreciated them, whether it was working on them or just making sure his was spotless. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sharon Fitzpatrick Kearney, whom he married on October 4, 1969; his brother, Thomas (Mary) Kearney of Ballston Spa; nephews, Thomas "J.R."(Rachel) and his son Colton, Kristopher, and Kevin and his son, Tyler Kearney. Also his in-laws, father Arthur Fitzpatrick of Stillwater, brothers, Thomas of Fla. and Richard (Pam) Fitzpatrick of Waterford, nieces and nephews, Angel, Adam, Naven and Cinna-Marie Kroup and Richie, Zoe, Luna, and Cora Fitzpatrick and several cousins. Al was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Joan Conroy Fitzpatrick and sisters-in-law, Kathy and Cathy Fitzpatrick. Al was a proud participant in the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical Center and has unselfishly donated his remains for medical education and research. A gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 15, at Hildreth's Restaurant, 201 North Main Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Please join Al's family as they celebrate his life and as Al would always say "Stop in for a visit and join us in having a drink and a bite to eat." In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Al in a special way are asked to donate to the Mechanicville Area Community Services Center (MACSC) Children's Christmas Fund, 6 South Main St., Mechanicville, NY 12118.
