Eric Raymond Bowden

BOWDEN Eric Raymond Bowden, 72, passed away on May 7, 2008 at his home in Virginia Beach. Born on June 14, 1935, he was the son of A.W. “Pappy” Bowden and Edna Capps Bowden. A native of Norfolk, Raymond graduated from Norview High School where he served as class president in 1954. He attended the University of Virginia and the Norfolk Division of The College of William and Mary. Raymond had a distinguished career with The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company having served as a local manager in Jacksonville, Florida for fifteen years. Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Judson David Bowden and his brother Whit Bowden, Jr. He is survived by a daughter and a son: Elizabeth B. Healy and her husband, Edward of Poquoson, Virginia, and Bradley S. Bowden and his wife, Angela, of Portland, Oregon; two sisters and two brothers, Audrey Hein of Norfolk, Joyce Forehand, of Chesapeake, Stewart Bowden of Hampton and Albert Bowden of Harrison, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. He had five grandchildren: Patrick Healy, Madelyn Healy, Blair Healy, Eli Bowden and Stella Bowden. He also leaves his devoted friend, Rita Beckman. A memorial service has been planned for June 7, 2008 at 11:00am at Kellum Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach. A reception will follow services in the funeral home.
