Jane M. Mellor

Jane M. Mellor 8/14/1921 - 5/9/2011 Born on August 14th, 1921 to Harry and Agnes Geib in Chicago, IL, Jane left us for a better place on May 9, 2011. She was born and grew up in Chicago, and in September 1939 met her future husband Herb Mellor when they were juniors at Taft HS, Chicago. They were married nearly 69 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons Roger of Lakewood and Dennis of Portland, OR, her sister Rosellen of Schaumberg, IL, and granddaughter Deanna (Tom) Dargan and great-grandson Jackie Dargan of Tacoma, WA. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Jane had a beautiful singing voice and in recent years sang with the Memorie Singers. As a young girl she loved to perform for friends and neighbors, singing and tap dancing. She was also a talented painter and an avid gardener. Jane was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church at Lakewood, where she sang in the choir. A memorial service in her honor will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2:00pm at the United Methodist Church at Lakewood, 6900 Steilacoom Blvd., Lakewood (253) 588-2118. A reception will take place following the service. Remembrances may be made to the church or your favorite charity. The family wishes to express appreciation to her longtime doctor Ales Matzenauer, plus the doctors and staff at both St. Joseph and St. Clare. Jane was a wonderful spirit and loved by all whose lives she touched. She will be truly missed by all her family and friends.
