Isaiah "Ike" Matthews KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Isaiah "Ike" Matthews, 70, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at U. T. Hospital Medical Center, Knoxville. He was born in Birmingham, Ala.; son of the late Isaiah Sr. and Helen Howard Matthews. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in New York. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Brenda Tate Matthews of Knoxville; four daughters, Helen Matthews of New York, Michelle Matthews of New York, Yvette Matthews of New York, and Patricia Talford and husband, Thomas, of Knoxville; two sons, Isaiah Matthews III of New York and Barry Matthews of Florida; three brothers, Maurice Matthews and wife, Helen, of Charlotte, N.C., Melvin Matthews of New York, and Tyrone Matthews of Virginia; two special friends, Richard Taylor of Baltimore and Alfred Johnson of California; three grandchildren, Courtney Talford, T.J. Talford, and Isaiah Talford all of Knoxville; and several niece, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services for Isaiah "Ike" Matthews will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Va. with the Rev. Marvin Cain, the Rev. Jimmy Ellis, and the Rev. Leslie Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Va. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood.
