Landon Blake Smith Sr. Mr. Landon Blake Smith Sr., 80, died on Nov. 8, 2009, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. A native of Henrytown, Va., he was a son of the late Hubert Stewart & Bessie Smith Smith. Mr. Smith grew up in Henrytown and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was the owner-operator of S & S Insulation. Prior to this, he worked for 31-W for 12 years. Known for being independent and humorous, Mr. Smith was a staunch Democrat and enjoyed a good debate, especially with his friend, Kelly Wolfe. He enjoyed listening to country music and working in his yard. Mr. Smith was most proud of the hard work he did when logging to raise money for the down-payment on the home for his family. His favorite scripture was Psalm 23. He is survived by a daughter, Diana Smith;, and a son, Landon Smith Jr., both of Bluff City; a sister, Hilda Vestal, Bristol Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jacob and Lauren Smith; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Salvador Molina, Bluff City; and his toy poodle, Angel. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by three sisters; and three brothers. A committal service with military honors for Landon Blake Smith was held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. in National Cemetery. Mountain Home, Tenn., with Chaplain Bryan Pearson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN 37601.
