Pearl Cross

Pearl B. Cross BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. Pearl B. Cross, 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was born in Blountville, Tenn., on Sept. 26, 1917, to the late Nathan Barr and Alma Sampson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Cross Jr.; and her granddaughter, Sandra Bullock. Mrs. Cross worked at the H.P. King Company until its closing and later worked at the West State Street Wal-Mart for several years. She was a member of the Bluff City Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed square dancing, clogging, reading poetry, and writing short stories. Pearl is survived by her daughters, Peggy Boyer of Blountville, Betty C. Shope of Colombia, La., and Sandra Chandler of Valparaiso, Ind.; brother, Fred Barr of Bristol Tennessee; seven grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2010, in the Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clarence Dishman officiating.
