Robert K. Strickland Jr. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. Robert K. Strickland Jr., age 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Asbury Place. Mr. Strickland was born in Milligan, Tenn., a son of the late Robert Kay Strickland Sr. and Mae Belle Merritt Strickland. He was a retired School Superintendent having served in the Manassas Park, Va., Pineville, Ky., and Lee County, Va., School Systems. Mr. Strickland was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Strickland, Howard Strickland and Glen Strickland; two sisters, Thelma Hughes and Melva Coyle. Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Yvonne Strickland; two sons from previous marriage, Glen Oren Strickland and wife Elizabeth and Robert David Strickland and wife Indhri; three grandchildren, Anna Kathleen Strickland, Jesse Oren Strickland and Allison Elizabeth Strickland; one brother, Don Strickland and wife Peggy; and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday evening, Oct. 14, 2010, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday morning, Oct. 15, 2010, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home North Chapel with Pastor Garland Thayer officiating. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 207 North Boone Street No. 1500, Johnson City, TN 37604.
