Sarah Frances "Frankie" Barnes PINEY FLATS, Tenn. Sarah Frances "Frankie" Barnes, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, in Johnson City Medical Center. She was a daughter of the late Donald Stevenson Ramsey and Draxie Marrs Ratliff Ramsey and was the widow of Thomas Barnes Jr. She was born in Pikeville, Ky., and had lived in the Bluff City/Piney Flats area for the past 50 years. She was a graduate of Pikeville High School where she was a drummer in the Drum and Bugle Corps. She was a member of Piney Flats First Baptist Church, was a woodcarver and violin maker and enjoyed ballroom dancing. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Lane and her husband Dane, and Kathy Barnes, all of Piney Flats; son, Tommy Barnes and his wife Kelley Parris-Barnes of Montgomery, Ala.; grandchildren, Nathan Lane and his wife Casey, Sarah Peoples J.R. Candlish and Rocky Lyons; great grandson, Elliott Lane; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelene May; and her brother, Eugene Ramsey. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 Tuesday evening, Dec. 8, 2009, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8 o'clock with Dr. Allen Davis officiating. The committal service and burial will be at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning in Glenwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Reed Mullins, Jim Gibson, Nathan Lane, J.R. Candlish, Curtis Tackett and Jim Sanders.
