W. D. Bishop CASTLEWOOD, Va. W. D. Bishop, 79, died on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon, Va. He was born in Rhoda, Va.,son of the late John Patton and Allie Lee Brooks Bishop. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was preceeded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, David Michael Bishop and wife Cindy; two sisters, Patsy Louise Kerns and Yvonne Bishop Barrow; three brothers, John Kelley Bishop, John Henry McDavid and Billy Ray Bishop. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laura Delilah Bishop of Castlewood; special stepdaughter, Rhonda Jessee and husband Ronnie of Castlewood; one step- son, Donnie Salyers and wife Becky of Abingdon, Va.; two sons, Billy Ray Bishop and wife Kami of Fort White, Fla., and William David Bishop and wife Lynn of Lake City, Fla.; one daughter, Tracy Annette McKleroy and husband Mike of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Gerald Bishop and wife Joeretta of Eleria, Ohio, and Jimmy Lee Bishop and wife Jean of Kingsport, Tenn.; five grandchildren, William David Bishop II and wife Kelley of Fort White, Michael McKleroy of Jacksonville, Fla., Kelly McKleroy of Jacksonville, Selena Bishop of Fort White and Ashley Bishop White of Florida; five step-grandchildren, Kristy Greer and husband Iggy of Hazel Mountain, Va., Carolyn Jessee of Castlewood, Adam Jessee of Castlewood, Danny Salyer of Abingdon, Va., Jason Salyer and wife Christi of Riveride, Calif.; five great- grandchildren, Ethan Greer, Haylee Greer, Shane Aesque, Maddison Bishop, and Dalton Bishop; several nephews; and one niece. Funeral services for W.D. Bishop will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, with Rev. Joel Cantrell and Rev. Jeff Kinder officiating. Committal services and military graveside rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Va., with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disable American Veterans and the Virginia National Guard. The family will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery, leaving at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood.
