Dr. Titus was the greatest natural leader that I have ever worked under/with during my career. I met him first as a medical student and then was under his mentorship for my residency and early faculty days. In addition to being an outstanding cardiovascular pathologist he was a a superb speaker/writer/teacher. His positive attitude never faultered and because of this he was also a truly inspiring person. He had a great sense of humor and an unshakable internal compass that guided his moral and ethical character. His influence in the medical and pathology community will live on for manyngenerations. I am fortunate indeed to have had his influence in my life.

I met Dr. Titus in 1972 when I was a young Pathology resident at Baylor College of Medicine. He was the new Chairman of Pathology. He became my teacher, friend ,and advisor for more than three decades. He helped me become a Transfusion Medicine specialist. It was an honor to know and learn from this world expert in Cardiovascular Pathology. Every assignment he gave me made me a better Pathologist. Beverly, you know how much he helped so many medical students, residents and fellows become better physicians. I am thankful to God that I was one of them. I send my love ,prayers and thanks to you and all of his family, David Yawn

Aunt Beve and Family,
My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the coming days. I have always remembered how Uncle Jack wrapped me in a big bear hug when I got hysterical at Mother's graveside service those many years ago. He had a big heart and a hug that matched.
Love to you all,
Pam Cherkis

I met Dr. Titus in the early 80's when I also met his son and my best friend Matt. Matt, myself and Dr. Titus had many lively discussions on various topics. Dr. Titus's personal hand written notes always represented to me a desire to communicate in a complementary way to his recipients. I have always been thankful of my relationship with the Titus family and I remain forever in their debt.

Words cannot express the great sadness I feel in the loss of this great, wonderful and caring man. Drs. Titus and Edwards were my mentors during my cardiovascular pathology fellowship and were my co-workers for nearly 10 years at the Registry. I will never forget Dr. Titus' kindness and his unusual sense of humor that he shared with all. He also taught me lessons on diplomacy in the real world. Knowing he is not in this world gives me such a sense of loss. I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the Titus family. I know your pain, as I lost my father recently. Dr. Titus will never be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of those he taught so well. I pray that he is at peace and free of his disease.

Mrs. Titus, Jack Jr., and family,
My condolences to you all. Dr. Titus was a mentor and a friend. He was a wealth of knowledge and was a patient teacher. He would tell me stories of your remarkable family as I sat across from him in the lab---some of the stories I heard many times : ) I will miss his counsel, his joy of learning, and his jokes. It was an honor to have known him.

Jack was my mentor for many years and during 1991-92 when I served as the Senior Research Associate with him and Dr. Jesse E. Edwards at the Jesse E. Edwards Cardiovascular Registry in St. Paul. Jack was an engaging teacher who took a keen interest in assuring everyone learned and no one was humiliated. For 20 years I continued teaching cardiovascular pathology to medical students at the University of Minnesota, a legacy I owe to Jack. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends as they grieve the loss of this great and caring man.

Our deepest sympathy to the Titus family.
In the mid 1950's we were neighbors. What a fine family they were. I played with the Titus children that were my age and Marilyn babysat the Titus children.
Several weeks ago Marilyn and I were wondering what happened to the family. My sister Marilyn lives in Burnsville and I live in Laughlin Nevada. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the services but my thoughts will
certainly be with the family. I would be honored to hear from the family.
Email address is [email protected].

Sincerely,

Marilyn Ruddock-Dougherty and David Dougherty

Jack was an incredible cardiac pathologist and a giant in his field. He was an incredible mentor to many of us. More importantly he was a great friend.
All of us in the Society for Cardiovascular Pathology will miss his friendship and wisdom.
