Mark Tranter Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Mar. 28, 2018.
Mark W. Tranter September 10, 1964 - March 22, 2018 - It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce Mark's passing. After a courageous battle with cancer, we know Mark is at peace now. Mark is survived by his loving wife (Linda) and his precious two daughters (Laura and Melissa). He will be deeply missed by his Mom (Isabelle) and Dad (Neil), his sisters Karen (Chi) and Michelle (Neil) and his nieces and nephews (Traci, Kevin, Robert, Madeline, Jack, Nicole and Lindsay). His in-laws (Don and Betty) and brother in-laws, Mike (Marg) and Don (Annie) were a special part of Mark's life. Mark had many life long friends from elementary and high school that he shared lots of wonderful memories and laughs with. Mark started his career at Canadian Airlines and then transitioned to Air Canada where he continued until his illness. He will now spend endless days fishing and evenings around the campfire. A celebration of life will be held at West Vancouver United Church on April 2nd at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the BC Cancer Society or the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation are appreciated.

It was a beautiful spring evening and the Mystery Beers were squaring off at Cedardale Baseball Field. I parked and trotted out onto the field to take up my position in the outfield. Mark suggested I not park there as balls sometimes went over there. As I was already on the field, I just left the car there. It was the 3rd inning, Beers down by a couple, Tranter up to bat. Here comes the pitch, whack goes Mark's bat - he was a pull-hitter - he was bit more left than usual and on that occasion that ball was a line drive right into the windshield of my car. Such was the indelible impact Mark had on my life. I will always remember Mark as a loyal, solid & generous friend and an amazing father and husband. A bright light has gone out. My thoughts and prayers are with Linda & his beautiful family. With love, Don Konantz

Nothing but good memories from childhood swimming competitively with Mark. Big smile and great laughs. A leader to the younger kids and always a solid team member when I swam up an age group. Go well Mark, good memories.

RIP bro, you were one of a kind. I had the pleasure of working with Mark for 25 years, many on my crew at Canadian Airlines Cargo. Condolences to his family, and my thoughts and prayers are with you. See you at the lake for a few beers and hockey talk my friend....
