Imogene Leon Obituary

Imogene Ann Leon

Ventura, CA

After suffering a lengthy illness, Imogene Ann Leon, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with Our Lord on Friday, August 7th. She passed away peacefully while in the arms of her loving husband and surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born December 18, 1928, on a farm in Indiana, Imogene was a model of loving Catholic motherhood. She prayed the rosary every day, attended Mass as often as possible and took her children to monthly Confession, whether they needed it or not!

She found great joy in the unique beauty of each family member, and lived to nurture them all, taking care of others before thinking of herself. With a generous and loving heart, she was famous for her cards and letters to ALL family members to celebrate every occasion, as well as her frequent care packages of homemade cookies and beef jerky. Everyone who met her tried to get onto her mailing list!!

Imogene spread joy wherever she went. She had an incredible sense of humor and saw the positive in everybody and in all situations, even in difficult times. She surprised everyone with her witty comments, even while she struggled with increasing pain. Her strength was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Imogene is survived by Manny, her adoring husband of 66 years, with whom she had five children - David, Yvonne, Cynthia, Kathleen, and Steven - and 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and her sisters Arlene, Fayma and Kay,

We always enjoyed our visits to California to be with Aunt Imogene and her family. They made us feel special and treated us like royalty. I will especially miss her stories, her laughter and the way she reminded me of my mom and my grandma. We will continue to keep her family in prayer.

Imogene (and Manny) was such a friendly and funny lady, that we always looked forward to seeing, which was never often enough. We had the pleasure of staying the last night or two with them while on our honeymoon almost 34 years ago (because we ran out of money!)We share the same wedding day, September12! She raised an amazing family and will be missed by so many folks, including us. Sent with love and prayers, Jerry And Sue Nowell
