Joshua R. Solis

Joshua R. Solis, 57, passed away from this life into eternity with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 10, 2012. A celebration of his life will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with the Rev. Carlos Charco, the Rev. Ron Miller and the Rev. Milton Gutierrez officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Central Texas State Cemetery in Killeen on Friday, June 15, at 10 a.m.

Joshua was born Sept. 14, 1954, to Raul and Mable Solis in Post, Texas. He attended school in Ozona and Odessa, Texas. Joshua served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Family and friends will remember his love of music, generous heart and comedic nature.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raul R. Solis; his son, Adrian Solis from Odessa, Texas; his grandparents, Macario and Guadalupe R. Reyes from Brownwood, Texas; and nephew, Kelly Moore of Waco.

He is survived by his mother, Mable C. Solis; brothers, Raul Solis Jr. and wife, "Cat" Quintanilla, Hiram Solis and wife, Annie Moore Solis, and Robert Solis and wife, Connie Hinojosa; sister, Theresa Solis; uncle, Bill R. Reyes; and by several nieces and nephews in Texas and Georgia. Joshua was adored and loved by friends who will miss him greatly.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to caregivers, Ted and Nancy Davenport, and the nurses and doctors at the V.A. Hospitals in Temple and Waco.

Memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
