My heartfelt condolences to all Harry's family, and deep gratitude for his vital contributions, as my reporter-trainee mentor in 1960, to my later newspaper career in Washington. This year, by chance through a Bacas cousin at my tax preparer's, I tracked him down by phone in Santa Clara to thank him, a delightful conversation.
Typical of his modesty, I never knew of his WWII record until now.
David C. Breasted, Washington.
It was my privilege to have Harry as my trainer when Managing Editor Bill Hill selected me in 1960 as the one Ivy Leaguer hired annually (Yale, in my case).

I am so sorry for the family loss of such a wonderful man.
I was a caregiver for Harry and absolutely loved the time spent together. going on walks working on crosswords shopping etc. I looked forward to each day and all our conversations. Harry was one of a kind and I feel honored to have known him.

Harry and Eliza "One" opened their home, to me in 1965, a place where, without their judgement, I could recover from a personal disaster and re-build my life. Alex and HIllary embraced my young son, my college roommate, Eliza Two
offered her support and I was able to move on after a few months to a new life. Harry's roaring laugh and both The Eliza's caring love set me on the right path. Harry and Eliza One, both stayed friends until the end. My best to the surviving kids and their families. Wonderful memories of that house and that family. Julie Lea

Deepest condolences. I remember Harry from my time in the Star Women's Dept in the early '60s, and of course my father Bill Hill and aunt Carter (Fifi) Dawson Gorski knew him well. Our Star family of wonderful people dwindles...
