Elaine Hoff Obituary

Elaine Evelyn Hoff, Stevens Point, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, with her family by her side.

Elaine was born Oct. 10, 1941, in Whitehall to Theodore and Ruth (Stark) Ellingson. She grew up in Northfield and attended school there. After high school she went to vocational school in Eau Claire where she met her future husband, Gerald John Hoff. They were married on May 5, 1962, and went on to raise three children in Stevens Point.

As of 1973, she was dedicated as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, which brought her much joy. She was actively involved in her Bible ministry and preaching work. Everyone who knew Elaine appreciated her mild and dignified manner. She was always cheerful, calm and "ladylike." She possessed a wonderful sense of humor, a love for cooking and sewing, and her favorite hobby — searching out "treasures" at rummage sales. She and Jerry enjoyed camping every summer in Michigan and "snow birding" in Arizona in the winter. Most of all, she was a loyal and loving wife and mother.

Our sweet Elaine was able to spend her last weeks at home in the care of her family. She was only 70 and fought as hard as she could to not give up her battle against cancer. She was brave, uncomplaining and dignified to the very end. We are so proud of her and will miss her more than words can say.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Gerald Hoff; son, Douglas Hoff (and his wife, Heather) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter Dawn Rondeau (and her husband Ty) of Stevens Point; son, Daniel Hoff (and his wife, Alisa) of Amherst; and grandchildren, Blake Hoff, Adia and Ethan Hoff, and Trace Rondeau.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 3600 Northpoint Drive, Stevens Point, WI 54481. The reception will follow at the Lettie W. Jensen Community Center at 487 N. Main St., Amherst, WI 54406.

Hi, I am glad Elaine lived as long as she did with cancer. She kept positive and took vitamins...made the effort to heal. I am glad to know her. She was an awesome person...a great model to others. She taught others they can stay home and be a great parent/model. She helped people know the spiritual life is the way to go...helped many others. Best wishes.
