Gertie S. Crawford Gertie Stilwell Crawford, 86, of Barren Springs died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Pulaski Community Hospital in Pulaski after a brief illness. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at Glenwood United Methodist Church with Pastors April Milligan and Mike Collins officiating. Interment will be Thursday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at the Crawford Family Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everett H. Crawford; her parents, Fred J. and Dovie Cox Stilwell; three sisters, Margie Moore, Tida Chrisley and Bernice Crawford; and a brother, Bud Stilwell. Although she never had children of her own, she was chosen by God to be a "mother," "grandmother" and "great-grandmother" to all her nieces and nephews, whom she loved unconditionally. In the last months of her life she was fond of saying, "I have done what I came here to do." She had and so much more. She is survived by her church family at Glenwood United Methodist Church, many neighbors and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. (service time) at Glenwood United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Neighbor 2 Neighbors Blessings in a Backpack program through Glenwood United Methodist Church. Stevens Funeral Home in Pulaski is in charge of the arrangements.
