Aubrey Davenport Obituary

Aubrey A. Davenport NORFOLK - Aubrey Allen "Dinky" "Dave" Davenport, 79, of the 5900 block of Adderley St., died Thursday, April 22, 2010, in a Hampton hospital. He was a native of Portsmouth, an avid fisherman and gardener, an inventive salesman, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Joan Hayman Davenport; a daughter, Michelle Lynn Smith; a son, Donald Lee Davenport; a stepson, Thomas A. Devine; a sister, Sally Copeland Hendrix of Norfolk; a brother, Maurice L. Davenport of Palm Bay, Fla.; six grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Copeland Becraft. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care Hospice, VA Medical Center, Hampton, VA 23667. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
