Nell Halabi Obituary

Nell E. Halabi NORFOLK - Nell "Lovey" Halabi, 83, stepped through the doorway to eternal life on Sept. 8, 2010. She was a woman of great worth, much loved, and will be greatly missed. She was truly an unforgettable woman who inspired many. As she steps through the doorway to eternal life she will be reunited with her husband, Edward William Halabi, sons Richard and Edward, and a host of other family members. Lovey is survived by many dear friends and family who will carry her in their hearts forever. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Edwards and her husband Jim Edwards III, Karen Brown and her husband Jeff Brown; her nephew, David Barnett; her beloved and devoted friend, James Crumbley; two grandchildren and their spouses and eight great-grandchildren. The family is grateful for the wonderful love, support, and excellent care provided by Chesapeake Regional Hospice. The interment will be a private family service. A memorial service in honor of her life will be held at McKendree United Methodist Church, 6870 N. Military Hwy., Norfolk, Saturday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation (Hospice) or the National Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation. I offer my condolences to all of Lovey's friends and family. She was truly a special person. I was her neighbor for 25 years. As a single dad, I always knew that she kept a watchful eye on my kids when I would have to work. She and I would have "talks" on the sidewalk from time to time. She was the best!

Dear Linda, Karen, and Family,

I am sad that Aunt Lovey has passed, but I know that she is not suffering anymore. She was one of my favorite people, because she did not mince words, and she told it like it was. Staying at your house as a child was always a special occasion for me.

I am thankful for the special time I spent with your Mom this winter. I will play it over and over in my mind forever. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Love,
Barbara
