Gladys Jarvis Obituary

Gladys Mae Jarvis CHESAPEAKE - On Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 Gladys Mae Jarvis went to sleep in the arms of Jesus at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 17, 1937 in Norfolk County. Ms. Jarvis was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church for many years. She retired from the Norfolk Naval Supply Center after 23 years of service. She is survived by five children: Drenette Jarvis (Jimmy) Chance, Nadine Glenn (Jonathan Rogers), Dedra (Tracy) Brown, Nathan Jarvis (Chandni Manooa) and Delores (Craig) Paulding; nine grandchildren, Jamison, Courtney, Eboni, Nicole, Justin, Manu, Maya, Kristian and Micah. Four sisters, Delores Lonesome, Rosa (Clarence) Caldwell, Judy (Melvin) Johnson and Dale Cuffee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Georgia Cuffee; four sisters, Barbara Cuffee, Henrietta Griffin, Betty Williams and Harriett Turner. A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Greater Bethel AME Church, 2320 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23323 by Dr. William Chapman. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing in Graves Funeral Home will be held today, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Condolences may be offered at www.gravesfuneralhomeinc.com.
