Isaac Tonkins Obituary

Isaac W. Tonkins NORFOLK - Isaac William Tonkins, 78, of Greensboro, N.C., departed this life Nov. 28, 2010. Mr. Tonkins was predeceased by his parents, James and Catherine Glover Tonkins; a brother, James Tonkins Jr.; and a sister, Mary Catherine Mills. Mr. Tonkins was educated in the Gilford County school system and joined the U.S. Navy in December of 1952 and retired from the Navy Public Works Department. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved daughter and best friend, Myra "Linda" Ndiaye; sisters, Margaret Strothers of Pennsylvania and Delores Dozier of Maryland; sister-in-law, Daisy Tonkins of North Carolina; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. A memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 4, at noon in Gethsemane Community Fellowship, 1317 Brambleton Ave. Riddick Funeral Service is handling the arrangements. Let your heart feel comfort in the fact that Mr. Ike is in a better place. He is up above and rubbing elbows with the ones you love that made it to heaven ahead of him.
