Beatrice Jacobson Obituary

Beatrice M. Jacobson NORFOLK - Beatrice Moritz Jacobson, 85, passed away Dec. 6, 2010 in Atlanta. She was a longtime resident of Norfolk prior to moving to Atlanta in 1999 to be near her sons, Wayne and Mark. She was predeceased by her husband, Myer Jacobson, and her sister, Margo Jacobson. Mrs. Jacobson was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and came to the United States in 1941. She married her late husband in 1948 and they owned the River Terrace on Granby Street in Norfolk until his death in 1972. Mrs. Jacobson was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed traveling with her family around the United States and overseas. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Harrison, and son-in-law, Jay Harrison, of Virginia Beach; her son, Mark Jacobson and his wife Rhonda; and her son, Wayne Jacobson. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Benjamin Harrison of Virginia Beach, Matthew Harrison of Orlando, Fla., and Melissa Jacobson of Marietta, Ga.; and a great-granddaughter, Julie Harrison. In addition to being a very active traveler, Mrs. Jacobson enjoyed the company of her many friends and pet dogs. She particularly enjoyed going on family cruises and participating in water aerobics. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8. Funeral arrangements are being handled by H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. Visitation will be held at her daughter and son-in- law's home in Virginia Beach at 2720 Nestlebrook Trail Wednesday, Dec. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Crossroads Hospice, 1957 Lakeside Parkway, Suite 500, Tucker, GA 30084 or to the charity of one's choice. www.hdoliver.com.
