Ann Austin Obituary

Ann Davis Austin SUFFOLK - Ann Davis Austin, RN, 75, died Jan. 1, 2011. A native of Isle of Wight County. She was the daughter of the late Hazel W. and John Davis. She was a member of Benns United Methodist Church and was a 1957 graduate of Riverside Hospital School of Professional Nursing and was a registered nurse. Mrs. Austin retired as director of Newport News Public Schools and Riverside Hospital School of Practical Nursing. She was a charter member of the Carrollton Womens Club. Survivors include her husband, Frederick "Fred" Hennen Austin; two daughters, Ann A. Buckley and husband Patrick G. Buckley of Orlando, Fla., and Cynthia M. A. Raiford and husband G. Philip Raiford of Sedley, Va.; one granddaughter, Jessica Buckley; one brother, Charles Swain Davis of Carrollton, Va. A funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Benns United Methodist Church by the Rev. O.H. Burton with burial in St. Lukes Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to Graz'n Acres Therapeutic Riding Center, 14492 Ivor Road, Sedley, VA 23878 or to Benns United Methodist Church, 14571 Benns Church Blvd., Smithfield, VA 23430.
