Violet Loyezelle Miller

CADILLAC — Violet L. (Usewick) Miller, of Mesick, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at her home. She was 86. Violet was born in Antioch Township of Wexford County on Dec. 9, 1921, to Leonard and Grace (Malone) Usewick.

After graduating from Mesick High School, she joined the Army/Air Force, serving in Waco, Texas, during World War II as an aircraft dispatcher for pilot trainees.

After the war she married Lester Miller, also a returning Veteran from Antioch Township.

Violet worked as a psychiatric attendant nurse at the Traverse City State Hospital for 27 years.

She pursued her hobbies and interests with great enthusiasm, some of which were cultivating scores of iris varieties, ceramics and knitting.

Violet is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lester W. Miller; sons, John and Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a younger sister, Elaine Sparks.

We will miss you, wife, mother and friend.

No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements were made by the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac.
