Lilly was a woman of towering magnitude. It was impossible not to be drawn into the trajectory of her affection and humor. She lived mightily and loved abundantly. We will never be the same, having known her, and we will always miss her -- though every thought of Lilly brings a smile.

I was very privaledged to know Lilly. She was a wonderful friend for both me and my mother. She was always there for us even through the roughest part we both knew we had a friend. Even after I moved to my father in OH I missed going over to her house and folk dancing till midnight. I am very gratful I got to see her last spring when i came to VA to see my mother's graduation.
She was my better-than-a-grandmother she was my friend she was a warm smile and a wonderful conversation.
She was LILLY

Dear Joyce, Lisa and Lauren,
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of our dear Lilly. Years ago, I was a member of the Roanoke International Folk Dancers and I had the joy of knowing your mother/grandmother. Lilly was so warm and full of life and love. She was a joy to be around and always I felt wiser and enriched by being around her.
Although I moved away from Roanoke in the summer of 1997, I remember Lilly clearly, with love and gratitude for having the privilege of meeting her and basking in her beautiful spirit. May her memory be for a blessing (this is a Jewish saying.)
Sincerely, Carole Fox, now living in Hot Springs, Arkansas
