I have just this moment, April 14, learned of my best friend and pastor for many years passing to heaven. I had just spoke to Mr. Dillard recently after I lost my dear husband, Bootsie, recently, and Mr. Dillard called and left a message that he wanted to be with me but was not well. Mr. Dillard married me and Bootsie Hendricks on April 8, 1979 and April 8 is my birthday and now Mr. Dillard has left the world on April 8. I am so grief stricken and wish I were there to see Joyce and the family. I am in Florida living and I want to get back to visit Bootsie's grave too, but expenses keep me from flying so much. But, had I known about Bill Dillard, I would have driven there if necessary, 900 miles away. I loved Bill Dillard with all my heart and so did my Mom and Dad, Jim and Edna Foizey, who were a part of Parham Road Baptist at one time. Mr. Dillard preached both of my parents funerals and he loved them as much as they loved him. Mr. Dillard would always talk of the many memories that made him laugh. My dad was so funny. Please know, Joyce and children, that I love you all and wish I were there and am sorry I am just finding this news tonight from my niece in Richmond. God bless you all and now he and Bootsie are safe in the arms of Jesus.

Mary and I were sorry to hear of Mr. Dillard’s passing. We unfortunately are out of town in Clemson SC and will not be back in time for the services but know our thoughts and prayers will surely be with you during this time.

We will think often of the cold hands, the warm heart, the "cheating" at bowling by his asking for divine intervention for making that 6 - 10 split, his love of a good potato salad, his part in our wedding and renewal as well as my parents renewal, and his always present smile.

Joyce, David and Spencer:

We are truely saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He was truely a loving and inspiring man. I have fond memories of him and the family from way back when we were just little kids. The youth group in Jim and Gladys' basement is the first to come to mind. I am thankful for the encouraging words and the participation in our wedding as well as they prayer and encouragement in 2006 when we renewed our vows for our 20th anniversary. You will be truly missed. May your memories bring you comfort during this difficult time. Our love to all.

My prayers and thoughts are with all of you. Your dad was always in my corner. I still hold onto a note that he wrote me long ago after he had heard me sing at a church service. I know he will be missed, but I also know he is finally home and will wait there to welcome all of you.

Spencer, we are so sorry for your loss. Your dad was so proud of you. I am so glad he knew how much you mean to our Shalom family. Jamie said to be sure to send his sympathy. Spencer, I am sure God will wrap your family in His arms and give you peace. We love you.
