We just heard from friends in the Music Company Orchestra of Jerry's death. Both of us had the pleasure and privilege of working with Jerry and Edith in the MCO for many years, and to receive the news at a distance like this was a terrible shock. For me (Emory), Jerry was my first contact with the MCO, nearly twenty years ago. It was also a great honor to work with him in the early 90's on a special project introducing schoolchildren to mathematics through music. For me (Mary Ann), I remember many many years serving with Jerry on the board of the MCO, thinking up projects for the group. I remember his unassuming generosity and how all he did was for the benefit of others. I remember his wry gentle humor at fatherhood and how much he cared for his sons. We thought of him often after we left the area. Edith, we are both very sorry for your loss.

Natania and I express our love and hope for the future. I miss my uncle and remember him in the present and in the past. My first memories of Gerald was when I was a little boy perhaps no more than three years of age and he would visit my family and play. He brought me my first MAD magazine. Over the years he remembered me on my birthdays with books which opened up new worlds for me. I saw him as a young child at his lab at MIT and was impressed by his role in technology and science. His memory will always live on in me.

It was such a shock to hear of Jerry's death. A real tragedy. As a friend, I will remember Jerry as a gentleman and as a fine person. As a colleague, he was a first-class engineer who I greatly admired. He was smart and creative and he was a tremendous resource of knowledge. Whenever I had a question about an obscure topic related to electric machinery, Jerry was the first person I would think of calling. He always seemed to know what work had been done on that problem and who (it not Jerry himself) had done it. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Gerry was truly a remarkable person and his passing will be a big loss to your family as well as the community. Our sincere sympathy to you, Edith, Jonathan and Daniel. Bob regrets very much that he was unable to come for Gerry's funeral service, due to time constraints. He has good memories of time spent in your home, and of playing with the Music Co. Orchestra on several occasions at Gerry's invitation.

We are so sorry for the untimely death of Gerry. Also that we are not there to be counted at the minyan and to tell Edith and family how sad we are. We will always remember Gerry's gentle ways and involvement in the synagogue and coordinating the various religious groups within the community.
May his memory be for a blessing.

My contact with Gerry had always been at the IEEE Industry Application Society meetings. I always learn something from him, whether it is about induction motors or the violin. I will truly miss his intellect, his gentle spirit, and his sly sense of humor. Those meetings will never be the same again.
