I never met Richard in person, but we corresponded via email about our family trees. We are third cousins, because we are both great great grandsons of James Hughes and Mary Woods, who lived in County Derry in what today is Northern Ireland. He shared some of his research on the Hughes family, and I still treasure the documents that he gave me, especially his summary of all of the descendants of James and Mary. Richard's genealogical work was broad and deep. It is a valuable gift to generations to come. My best wishes to Richard's family on this fifth anniversary of his passing. I'm praying that you find comfort in happy memories of Richard.
