DAVID SIROTA Obituary

DAVID SIROTA

David Sirota, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at the age of 86. He was born in Detroit, Mich., and came to Tucson in 1947. David graduated from Tucson High School and went on to achieve bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Arizona. His career was spent as a professor of Real Estate Finance and Investment, teaching at the U of A, University of Nebraska at Omaha, National University in San Diego, Eastern Michigan University, and Cal State Fullerton. David authored four text books in his field of expertise that are used in colleges across the nation.

Dave was a consummate singer and actor, performing in many local theatrical productions. He was a founding member of the Jewish Friendship Club and Beth Shalom Temple Center in Green Valley. He was an active member of Rotary serving as Sergeant at Arms for many years; he also served on the GVR Board as well as the Coordinating Council Board. Dave was a resident of La Posada where he was the broker of record at its inception.

Dave will be remembered by Roslyn, his loving wife of 51 years; six children; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held at a later date.

To The Sirota Family: Sending deep sympathy to you as I/we learned of David's passing. I had the privilege to know him through the Real Estate Educators' Association for many years. In fact, we both sat for our DREI designation exam in 1983. He was such a well-known author, and I was just starting out in real estate education. It was so intimidating sitting right behind him for the exam, especially since his calculator was the size of a small typewriter! But as we became friends and colleagues, there wasn't a kinder, more sincere man, always willing to openly share his knowledge with others. As a past President of REEA, please accept our members' sympathy. David was a wonderful person who will be sorely missed.
