To the Strianese family,

It saddens me to learn of the death of Professor Strianese. I had him in multiple classes when I attended Schenectady County Community College for my Culinary Degree. He taught me a lot and how to be a stronger student. He will truly be missed. I send my condolences to your whole family.

Pam, I am so sorry for your loss. As a fellow "foodie" I enjoyed my conversations with you and Toby.I could always count on a new restaurant recommendation and I cherish the signed copy of your textbook. Terry and I really enjoyed the day we had lunch in the SCCC dining room as the students were being tested and you both gave us a tour of the facility. Toby loved life and it showed. Please take care of yourself.

My sympathies to the Strianese family. Professor Strianese always encouraged me to do what I wanted to do in life. With his encouragement and insight I recently completed my MBA in Sustainable Business from Marylhurst University. He always preached to the class that you are never too old for a career change and one should always keep on learning. Truly a man of great wisdom.

I graduated from SCCC In 1990 and was blessed to have him as a teacher , mentor and friend. I went to Walt Disney World after he convinced me I'd be great at it! It was scary at first, but he sent me letters of encouragement to help me get through it! It was the best experience- he was right! I still have all of the letters he wrote me! My heart goes out to the family at this difficult time. Take comfort in knowing all of the lives he has touched through the years- Thank You for letting him shape mine! - Penny Falbo

Professor Strianese was the welcoming face I needed when I started at SCCC. He made me feel welcome and was confident that I was making the right choice. While at the NYSHTA Gala, he proudly introduced his students to guests that we could only dream of meeting. I only had him as an instructor for a few short weeks. However, I learned more about Wine in those few weeks than I ever knew possible. I wish I had been able to experience more of his fabulous stories. He was truly one of kind and will be great missed. To the family and friends of Toby Strianese,

My acquaintance with Toby began during his tenure as the coach of my son's soccer team in Clifton Park. His commitment to my son, Ryan, and to the other members of the team in the pursuit of a positive experience was a source of inspiration for the parents, as well as the players. I also enjoyed the fruits of his labors as a frequent guest at The Casola Dining on the campus of Schenectady County Community College where Toby served as Chairperson of the School of Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism. Whatever he did, Toby did well. Although now gone from our midst, Toby will remain a source of inspiration for everyone he touched along the way. Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of a good man.

Professor Strianese was a sweetheart, very caring professor who cared deeply about the success of all of his students. He was well respected by his colleagues and students. He told us on many occasions of how we students were the reason he got up and went to work everyday. Anyone who knew him is blessed! I am deeply heartbroken over his passing, but at least he is not in any pain anymore. God Bless the Strianese family!

Professor Strianese words can't express what I am feeling. I will always remember what you did for me as a student of the Culinary Arts program. You took so much time in your office to set out a plan for my education. You convinced me to go for my bachelors degree when I didn't think that was possible. You encouraged me to achieve more that i ever thought possible. You really made a difference in my life more than you may know. For that, I will always be grateful.
