Anthony J. Benfatto Sr.

Anthony J. Benfatto, Sr., of North Brunswick passed away on Sunday, March 17th at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 84.
Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, he lived in Edison and Metuchen before moving to North Brunswick in 1978.
He worked as a Chemist and Formulator for Bristol Meyers Squibb in New Brunswick before his retirement.
Tony was a US Army veteran, serving stateside during the late 1960s. He was also a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Virgin Church in New Brunswick and a member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. He was an active resident of North Brunswick, serving as a Committeeman 9th District, the Chairman of Traffic Safety, a member of the Rent Leveling Board and for over 25 years the Vice President of the North Brunswick Italian-American Club.
His wife, Rita Benfatto died in March 2023. He is also predeceased by his sister, Nancy Schiefelbein.
Surviving are his son, Anthony J. Benfatto, Jr. of North Brunswick; and sister, Rosanne Martucci of upstate New York.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 25th, 10 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin Church, New Brunswick. All to meet at church. Entombment to follow in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 in his loving memory.
