Barbara Sievers Brewer passed away peacefully on April 29, 2023. She was born in Washington D.C. to Edward George Sievers and Hazel Meyer Sievers. Her family moved to Oklahoma City in 1941 where she grew up attending Harding Jr. High and Classen High School, graduating in 1946. Barbara attended Monticello College for two years before attending the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. It was there that she met and married George W. Brewer, Jr. in 1949. Barbara and George were married for 65 years when George passed away in 2014.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great­ grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family: daughter, Pam and husband, Mike Jaax, daughter, Debbie and husband, Ron McCord and daughter, Becky, as well as her 7 grandchildren, Allyson and Mitch Gass, Grant and Jennifer Jaax, Kyle and Sarah McCord, Bennett and Sarah McCord, Robert and Miki Howl, Carley and Max Frost and Kelley Howl and her 10 great-grandchildren, Reid and Molly McCord, Callum and Clara Mc Cord, Meriwether and Connor Jaax, Harper Howl, Emmerson, Charlie and Cooper Frost. Barbara leaves behind many extended family members and friends who loved her deeply.
George and Barbara were members of All Souls' Episcopal Church for over 50 years where Barbara was a devoted member of Altar Guild for many of those years. in addition to her husband, George, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, E.G. and Hazel Sievers, her sister, Carol Soule, as well as her father- and mother-in-law, George W. and Mamie Brewer, and her brother-in-law, Robert Brewer.
We love you and will miss you more than words can express but we all rest assured that we will be reunited with you one day, Mom.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to All Souls' Episcopal Church. www.allsoulsokc.com. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
