Lauren Elise (Lantier) Emig passed into eternity on November 12th, 2025, at the age of 39, after a heroic battle with cancer lasting over two years.
Lauren was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas on November 11th, 1986 to Dr. Steven and Lisa Lantier. She moved with her family back to her parents' home state of Louisiana for two years before they permanently settled in Oklahoma. She was a wonderful and doting big sister to her two little sisters. She was very gifted artistically and musically, playing the piano from an early age, and singing with a voice that was frequently described as nothing short of angelic. She had a great love for and proficiency in Gregorian chant, and put these skills to good use as the choir director of St. Michael's chapel for a number of years.
Lauren was married to her beloved husband, Tommy, on May 19th, 2007. They started a busy and happy life together in the country, where she enjoyed raising animals, gardening, and putting her boundless creativity to good use in the kitchen and elsewhere. This way of life suited them well, especially once God began blessing them with a beautiful family of eight boys and three girls. Lauren devoted herself tirelessly to her children's education and to the sanctification and happiness of her family. She was above all dedicated to the practice of her Catholic Faith and, with a great spirit of generosity, became a member of the third order of the Society of St. Pius X.
In September of 2023, Lauren was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Despite the uncertainty surrounding such daunting circumstances, Lauren remained cheerful, hopeful, and resigned to the Will of God, trusting especially in the patronage of Our Lady, to whom she had always been faithfully and lovingly devoted. Her treatments were often tiring and time-consuming, but her perseverance in them resulted in significant progress along the way. Ultimately, however, the rapid spread of the cancer proved that God wanted to call her to Himself, and to enable her to care for her family in an even more perfect way. Having received all the sacraments, blessings, and graces which the Church has to offer, Lauren returned her soul to God, surrounded by her family at her home in Luther, Oklahoma. The sadness felt at the loss of such a precious daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend is tempered by the sure hope of her own eternal happiness and her continued dedication to all of ours.
Lauren is survived by her husband, Thomas Emig, her eleven children, Patrick, Benedict, Mary Grace, Joseph, Dominic, James, Michael, Stephen, William, Anne Elise, and Olivia, her parents, Steven and Lisa Lantier, and her sisters, Katherine Waliser and Madeleine Lantier.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that, in your charity, you consider having a Mass offered for the repose of her soul.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16th, at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home (14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73134) at 5:00 pm, followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 pm. The Requiem Mass will be offered on Monday, November 17th, at St. Michael's Chapel (4701 N. McMillan Ave., Bethany, OK 73008) at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery (7500 W. Britton Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73132). Reception to follow on the St. Michael's Chapel parish grounds.
The family would like to attempt an expression of their deepest gratitude to the innumerable friends who showed so much kindness throughout Lauren's illness. It is impossible to list, much less do justice to so many pastors, family, friends, members of her medical team, etc. who offered spiritual care, physical care, encouragement, meals, assistance of all kinds, a trip to Lourdes, and unceasing prayers. It is a tribute to the marvelous power of God that the trial of these two years was the occasion for such a tremendous and beautiful outpouring of charity. Thank you for being the instruments of His goodness to us. Deo gratias.
