Barbara Rills Gerace

Barbara Rills Gerace passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the age of 89. She was a retired office manager from Iberville Parish Natural Gas; was a resident and native of Plaquemine, LA. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, celebrated by Father Arun John. Entombment of her ashes will follow at Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Ann Gerace Marionneaux (Donald), and Jane Gerace Boudreaux; son, Jim Gerace, Jr. (Greg Springer); grandchildren, Devlin Marionneaux (Kim Foret), Hana Marionneaux LeBlanc (Cody), and Kade Boudreaux (Anna); great grandchildren, Max and Kane Marionneaux, Ainsley and Ethan LeBlanc, Kollyns, Brynne and Brooks Boudreaux; and sisters, Mary Susanne "Sue" Rills, and Martha "Poochie" Rills Verret; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" "Rover" Gerace; grandson, Kye Boudreaux; parents, Flor Rills, Sr. and Stella Falcon Rills; brother, Flor "Sonny" Rills, Jr.; son-in-law, Darrel Boudreaux; and brother-in-law, Wesley Verret, Sr. Pallbearers will be Devlin Marionneaux and Kade Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald, Max and Kane Marionneaux, Cody and Ethan LeBlanc. Barbara was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was a catechism teacher. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Plaquemine Garden Club, and a docent at the Baton Rouge Zoo. Barbara was an avid reader, crocheter, seamstress, enjoyed working with animals and rode the Zoo Mobile to various schools to teach children about animals. She was a wonderful cook and named the St. Clement Church cookbook "The Feast of St. Clement." Barbara dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
