Belva Jean Martin, also known as Meme, passed from this life to her heavenly home on January 8th, 2024. She was born August 27, 1946, to Bo and Helen Stroud in Portales, NM. She graduated from Hobbs High School in 1964. On August 15th of the same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Don Martin. They raised two children: a son, Jerry and a daughter, Kristi. They started and ran a successful oil field business for 42 years. Belva was a very accomplished artist and there was nothing she couldn't create. Every time her grand kids needed help with a project, she would get that "hey Meme" phone call.
She is preceded in death by her husband Don Martin, parents Bo and Helen Stroud, a brother Bill Stroud, and a nephew Jonathon Stroud.
She is survived by son Jerry Martin and wife Rene', daughter Kristi Phillips, granddaughter Chelsey Harris and husband Justin, granddaughter Bailey Kirkes and husband Ben, granddaughter Lexi Mason and fiancé Tyler, grandson Rylan Mason, grandson Kylen Phillips, great-grandchildren Madison Harris, Molly Harris, Bentley Kirkes, and Beckham Kirkes.
