Banna Joe Davis, 93, was born Dec. 14th, 1931, in Brownfield, Texas to Willie Lorenzo and Velma (Orr) Holt. She passed from this life Nov 20, 2025. Banna will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She graduated from High School at Mattson, TX. where she was a Cheerleader and Valedictorian of her class. She met Boyd (Red) Davis, and they married on Aug.18th 1948.Together they were blessed with 4 Children, 3 sons and 1 daughter. They made their home in Hobbs in 1960.Banna liked to crochet and knit. She made all the kids and grandkids Afghans.She did this until her eyesight wouldn’t let her anymore. She enjoyed spending time with the grandkids and her great grandkids and her great great grandkids. They enjoyed being around her also, they always asked for Mawmaw before asking for their grandparents. Vacations were usually spent fishing either at the Brazos River on Matthews Ranch, or at Lake Stamford. Always caught a lot of fish and would have a fish fry after returning home. She loved playing cards, Dominoes and Wahoo with her family and friends.Banna worked at Gens Flowers for many, many years and always talked fondly of her co-workers.She was a member of Bel-Aire Baptist Church for over 20 yrs.
Banna was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters (Brooksey, Benita, Billie, Barbara, and Bobbie) Her beloved husband of 67 years Boyd (Red) Davis. 2 sons: Michael Eugene Davis and Kenny Earl Davis. Son-In-law, Timmy Taylor. Grandson: Jason Robert Davis. Great granddaughter: Lola Garza. Left to miss her is daughter: Cindy Taylor and son: Gregory Davis (Cathy). Her brother: Blu (Marilyn Sue) Holt from Mason, TX. Granddaughters: Lucinda Benevidez (Mike) Terri Greenough (Mike) Stephanie Taylor (Jonathan Stanley) Sheila Taylor (Payton) all of Hobbs, NM Grandsons: Matthew Davis of Hobbs, and Eric Davis of Santa Rosa, NM. Banna is survived by bunches for great grandkids, great- great-grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews. Josie (as her daddy called her) you will be loved and missed more than you’ll ever know. We know you are rejoicing, having been reunited with those who went before you, especially Daddy. Give everyone a hug until we see y’all in heaven.
A Visitation for Banna will take place Tuesday November 25, 2025, at Chapel of Hope from 1pm to 6pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Chapel of Hope Wednesday November 26, 2025, at 10am with a burial to follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
